Privacy Policy

PaddleScreens records platform tennis matches on cameras installed at racquet clubs and gives members and coaches a place to watch them back. This policy covers the PaddleScreens iOS app and the PaddleScreens web app.
What we collect
- Account
- Your email address, your name, the club you belong to, and whether you hold a coach or administrator role there. Your email address identifies your account.
- A photo, if you add one
- A profile picture you choose from your photo library. Optional.
- Match video
- Video recorded by the cameras installed at your club during sessions you take part in, and the data that describes those sessions — court, time, length, and which members were on court.
- Coach reviews
- When a coach records a review of your play, the clips they select, the drawings they make over them, their written notes, and the voice recording they narrate it with.
- Usage analytics
- Which screens you open and which actions you take in the app, together with a pseudonymous account identifier, a device identifier, your device model and operating system version, and crash and performance data.
What we do not collect
We do not collect your location. We do not use the advertising identifier, and we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites. We do not show advertising and we do not sell your personal information. The app does not record your screen and does not capture screen views automatically. We do not send push notifications.
Permissions the app asks for
- Camera
- To scan the QR code on a court so the app knows which court you are playing on. The camera is used for scanning only.
- Microphone
- Only while a coach records the voice narration on a review. Nothing is recorded outside that.
- Photo library
- To let you pick a profile picture, and to save a clip to your photos when you choose to download one.
Each of these is requested the first time you use the feature, and you can change your mind at any time in iOS Settings.
Who processes it
We use a small number of service providers to run the product. They process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
- Google Firebase
- Sign-in, the database holding your account and session records, file storage, and the server functions the apps call.
- Mux
- Hosting and delivery of match video and clips.
- PostHog
- Product analytics, hosted in the United States. Session replay and automatic screen capture are both switched off.
Who can see your match video
Match video is recorded on cameras owned and installed at your club. Members who were on court for a session can see that session. Coaches at your club can see sessions they are asked to review, and club administrators can see their club’s recordings and the cameras’ live view. Recordings are not public, and we do not publish them.
If your club chooses to broadcast a court to its own YouTube channel, anything the camera captures while that broadcast is running is visible to whoever your club makes that broadcast available to. Your club controls that, not PaddleScreens.
Your choices
- Turn off analytics
- Settings in the app has a switch that stops analytics being collected from your device. It is honoured immediately and on every later launch.
- Change your details
- You can edit your name and replace or remove your profile picture from your profile screen.
- Delete your account
- Your profile screen has a delete option. It removes your sign-in credentials and your profile record — your name, your club, and your role — and you are signed out and cannot sign in again.
Deleting your account does not delete match video already recorded on your club’s cameras, because a recording generally shows several people and belongs to the club that made it. If you want footage you appear in removed, write to us at the address below and we will work with your club on it.
How long we keep it
Account and session records are kept while your account is open, and your account record is removed when you delete it. Match video is kept for as long as your club keeps it, under the arrangement your club has with us. Analytics events are kept in aggregate for product analysis.
Children
PaddleScreens is intended for use by club members and is not directed at children under 13. Where a club enrols a junior member, the account is set up and managed by their club and their parent or guardian.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page, and for a material change we will say so in the app.
